Glascock County History*

Glascock County, the 120th county formed in Georgia and one of the smallest (in area and in population), was created in 1857. Glascock County was named for General Thomas Glascock, a Georgia House Speaker.

The Ogeechee River, which runs through the county, provides a wide variety of recreational activities.The county has one kaolin mining and processing plant. Farming and forestry are the dominant sectors of the county's economy.
