TB Case Management

Responsibility for successful TB treatment and control is assigned to the public health program or private provider, not to the patient (ATS 2003); therefore, the NCM must successfully manage and coordinate long term medical & socio-behavioral concerns of the patient and their family. This one day workshop will prepare public health case managers to define case management, to list 10 tasks of case management, to describe how to assess adherence to treatment and to state strategies for improving adherence.

Topics include:

  • Definition of case management
  • Principles of case management
  • Goals of case management
  • The role of the case manager
  • Nursing process and case management
  • Variance analysis
  • Leadership skills of the nurse case manager
