Accomplishments: Population Health

  • Collaborated with multiple schools of nursing to develop academic courses and training programs in population health for public health nurses. Received HRSA grant funding for 2003-2005 to implement the training program, Population Health Competencies for Public Health Nurses. This training included an online course for baccalaureate credit, a CE version of the training and a CE scholars program. Public Health trained 351 Public Health Nurses in population health.
  • Collaborated with Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) in the final production of the population health independent study CD-ROM that will be used as a training tool for Georgia’s Public Health Nursing workforce.
  • Initiated and collaborated with district and state public health leaders in practice and academia to produce the document, Competencies for Public Health Nursing Practice.
  • Coordinated development and publication of the Georgia Practice and Education Workgroup (GaPEW)) Tool Kit. This was designed to assist collaborations between local/district public health nursing and public/community health faculty in schools of nursing.
  • Co-authored “Developing Population Health Competencies among Public Health Nurses in Georgia,” published in the Journal of Public Health Nursing, Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 161-167.
  • Presented poster at the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators Conference on Academic and Practice Partnership: A Decade of Productive Collaboration, which highlighted the development of an online baccalaureate course in population health, a position statement on student experiences in immunizations, June 5, 2008.

Top
