Health Matters – it matters to you, your family, your friends and even your workplace. That’s why the Georgia Department of Public Health now offers Health Matters, a worksite wellness program, to all its employees located at 2 Peachtree.

One of your fellow participants made wonderful strides toward achieving a healthier lifestyle and shared his success with us. His story inspired us and we hope it encourages you. If you have stories to share, we would love to hear from you.

"As a husband and father of three very active and wonderful children, I feel it is my responsibility not only to give my boys the opportunity to play sports, but to get out there with them and show them how it's done. But I had no energy to do this. Late last year, I was diagnosed with Facet's Syndrome (an irritation of the back) and was told by the physical therapist that I needed to walk to help correct the condition. As an answer to both of these prayers, The Health Matters people began a walking group which I immediately signed up for! Since beginning to walk in February, I have lost 12 lbs, am eating healthier (more fruits and vegetables) and find that I don't need to eat as much as before. I have more energy to be with my kids and do the things I love, which is playing soccer! I also find other side benefits such as my moods are better and I'm able to think clearer and handle stress better. Although I've still a ways to go to meet my weight goals, I'd like to say THANK YOU to everyone at Health Matters for initiating this program, and for giving me the opportunity and motivation to help accomplish my goals and showing me the way to a healthier lifestyle."
