Family Health Branch

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Title V Block Grant

Information for the General Public

We Need Your Input!
Every year the Family Health Branch of the Georgia Department of Public Health submits an application for federal Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant funds. The MCH Block Grant provides more than $16 million to the State to address maternal and child health priorities.

The Federal MCH money allows the Georgia Department of Public Health to allocate funds for a wide range of public health service programs on the state and local levels that benefit the health of mothers and children. The Family Health Branch of the Georgia Department of Public Health is responsible for the administration of the Federal MCH Block Grant funds received by the State.

Part of the application process is to involve individuals by asking for input on this year's application. We are asking your time to review the information about Georgia's plan to address national and state performance measures. Please give us your comments on activities we are implementing to address health care needs for mothers and infants, children, and children with special health care needs in Georgia for the year 2006. We are currently putting together the 2007 plan and would value your input.

What Can You Do to Help?
We ask that you read and review the MCH FY 2004 activities and the MCH FY 2005 planned activities (see Georgia Block Grant Narrative) that are currently being implemented. We would like your input so that we can get a sense of whether we are on the right track.

The performance measures are divided into two sections: National Performance Measures, the priorities that are federally required, and State Performance Measures, the priorities that the Georgia Department of Public Health has developed.

Let us know what activities you think should be included in the plan submitted with the year 2006 MCH Block Grant, via email: mchblock@dhr.state.ga.us
