Comprised of food safety
professionals representing regulatory and public health agencies, industry,
academia, legislative and consumers in Georgia.
Mission
Protect the health of Georgia consumers, through interagency communications;
coordination and cooperation.
Additional Details
The purpose of the group is to establish better lines of communication between
agencies in order to ensure effective and efficient response to food, waterborne
hazards and other public health problems. The group conducts quarterly meetings
to discuss current issues that require multi-agency response. Our focus is on
food safety and defense. Topics of discussion include: Current public health
issues, Foodborne illness and outbreaks, Data Sharing, Uniform Standards, food
safety legislation, Program Assessment and Evaluation Consumer Education
Training and Certification.
