Children’s Medical Services Program supports a comprehensive system of quality health care services for Georgia’s children with special health care needs and offers statewide community-based services through a network of 18 public health districts.

Listed below are the 18 public health districts. The districts in italics have specialty clinics on-site and districts underlined have telemedicine clinics on-site. At each health district, care coordinators provide outreach, referral, care coordination, education, home visits, and follow-up for clients and their families.

The Georgia Department of Public Health serves as the administrative agency responsible for funding the public health districts through grant-in-aid contracts.

The CMS Program demonstrates a long standing successful public-private partnership and provides care to over 8,900 children per year. This network includes physician specialists, audiologists, nutritionists, equipment providers, prosthesis’s, pharmacists, and others. CMS may provide or assist in paying for an array of services that include:

  • comprehensive physical assessment
  • diagnostic testing
  • in-patient/out-patient hospital services
  • medications
  • medical treatments
  • durable and disposable medical equipment
  • hearing aids
  • dental care (if related to the CMS eligible condition)
  • health education
  • care coordination for client and family (may include referrals to other providers such as schools, day care, social service programs, etc)
  • genetic consultations
  • home visits
