Fruit & Veggies Everyday

It's easy to get five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day if you incorporate them into every meal.

Breakfast

  • Spice up your eggs by adding salsa
  • Add veggies to an omelet
  • Color your cereal by adding fresh or thawed frozen berries
  • Include bananas, peaches or blueberries in waffles and pancakes

Lunch

  • Load up on veggies at the salad bar, eat as a side or add to your meal
  • Add veggies to a sandwich
  • Grab a piece of fruit for dessert
  • Try reduced fat cottage cheese with fresh fruit and whole grain bread for a lighter lunch

Dinners

  • Serve vegetable based soups as starters
  • Incorporate vegetables such as cauliflower and broccoli into mashed potatoes or spinach and peas to macaroni & cheese
  • Make chicken and vegetable fajitas or stir fry with extra veggies
  • Try a salad meal - mix spinach, potatoes, green beans, tuna, tomatoes, cucumbers with a light honey mustard dressing

Fruits & veggies make great snacks, too. Try these tasty treats…

  • Bean dip with fresh cut veggies
  • Apple with peanut butter
  • 100% fruit juice popsicles
  • Celery filled with reduced fat pimento cheese

Short on time? Modern day conveniences make it easier to prepare and eat fruit and vegetables. Precut produce is sold at most grocery stores and many restaurants now offer vegetable dishes - dine in or take to go. If you're worried produce will go bad before you use it, shop the salad bar and only get what you need or pick up fresh produce everyday from the R&R Produce market located on the first floor at 2 Peachtree.

3 Simple Steps to Improve Your Diet...
  1. Eat more fruits & vegetables. Not only good for you, but most vegetables and some fruits are also low in calories. Plus, they contain fiber to help you feel full.
  2. Watch portion sizes. Enjoy your favorite foods, just enjoy less of them. If you cannot 'eat just one' then save those foods for special occasions.
  3. Plan ahead. Deciding what to order at a restaurant or bring for lunch beforehand takes the guess work out leaving less room for temptation. Plan frequent, small meals/snacks to keep you from getting too hungry.
