No More Excuses!
Always have an excuse as to why you don't exercise.
We've got you covered. Look at these solutions and try thinking of your own.
Excuse: "I don't have time to exercise."
Solution: We all have time to move more. Try to schedule a time to exercise everyday or look for ways to combine responsibilities. For example, meet a friend at a park to catch up versus going for dinner or plan family gatherings at local parks.
Excuse: "It's too expensive to join a gym."
Solution: Living in the South means several months of great weather ideal for outdoor activities. There are more than 200 community parks and recreation centers in metro Atlanta alone and most cost little to nothing to use. Join one of the Health Matters walking groups (Coming Soon) or start your own walking club in your neighborhood.
Excuse: "I'm too tired to exercise."
Solution: Plan for exercise in the morning or during lunch instead of late in the day when you're more likely to be tired. Give it a try - exercise may just make you feel more energetic.
Excuse: "I always see runners and walkers out by themselves - it seems so lonely…and boring."
Solution: Choose an activity that fits your personality and lifestyle. If you are more social, look for group activities such as aerobics, join walking groups, or participate in charity walk-a-thons or other events where people gather. To keep it exciting, exercise in a new location or simply do something different.
Excuse: "Exercise seems like another chore and I already have a million chores."
Solution: Find an activity that you enjoy and make it fun. Incorporate activity into your chores. Dance around the house while you clean or walk to the store. Make exercise part of your down time - go for a walk alone and think, clear your head and help manage stress.
Excuse: "I'm not seeing the results I would like and that keeps me from wanting to do more."
Solution: To stay motivated, set up a friendly competition with a friend - see who can record the most hours of activity. Or simply challenge yourself - sign up and train for a race.
