  1. What is Health Matters?

    Health Matters is a worksite wellness program for Georgia Department of Public Health (DCH) employees.

  2. Is Health Matters a weight loss program?

    The goal of Health Matters is to improve overall employee health through physical activity and nutrition education. Health Matters promotes the components of the Live Healthy Georgia campaign - Be Active, Eat Healthy, Be Positive, Get Checked, and Be Smoke Free. Learn more.

  3. Who can participate in Health Matters?

    Health Matters is a program for employees of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DCH). People who are interested in the program, but who are not DHR employees, are encouraged to join Georgia on the Move.

  4. I'm not physically active/I'm already active... is Health Matters something I can do?

    Absolutely! Health Matters encourages all DHR employees to gain the health benefits of physical activity and healthy eating, regardless of their current fitness level.

  5. Does it cost anything to participate in Health Matters?

    No - the program is free. You may choose to purchase a pedometer (step counter) to use with the program, but it is not a requirement. (link to Step It Up!)

  6. How can I use this website to keep track of my physical activity?

    To record your activities, log in to the "My Health Matters" page. Under "Record My Progress", click on Minutes. An activity list appears. Select your activity from the drop down list and enter the minutes. Remember, you can record other activities besides walking!


Getting Started with Health Matters

  1. How do I get started?

    Register with your DHR "team" (your Division or Office) online. You'll need a group registration code for your particular team. To get your code, please contact your Team Captain (insert hyperlink to "Team Captains" page) or contact the Health Matters Committee.

  2. I've already registered on "Georgia on the Move" as an individual. Is there any way for me to now join a DHR team? If I am part of one DHR team, and there is a change in my employment, can I switch to a different team?

    If you are a Georgia DHR employee and you are currently in "Georgia on the Move", then you can register as part of a DHR team. You can also change teams if you begin working for a different DHR Division or Office. Please contact the Health Matters Committee for more information.


Privacy Questions

  1. Will Health Matters keep my individual information (such as name, e-mail address) private?

    Yes. Your individual information is never shared. Your information is compiled with all other Health Matters participants and viewed only in aggregate for evaluation purposes. Learn more (insert hyperlink to Privacy Statement) about our privacy statement.


Monthly Fitness Tip

Be Active - Engage in physical activity regularly.

Eat Healthy - Enjoy a life-healthy diet that includes fruits and vegetables. It also means eating less salt, sugar, and fat.

Be Smoke Free - Avoid cigarettes and other tobacco products. If you need help quitting, call the Georgia Tobacco Quit Line at 1.877.270.STOP.

Get Checked - Keep up to date with your annual physical, tests, and immunizations.

Be Positive - Learn to manage stress and keep a positive outlook.
