Be Smoke Free

It's Not Too Late

Despite what you might think, it's never too late to kick the habit.

Consider these facts:

  • Within 20 minutes of quitting smoking, blood pressure and heart rate return to normal … and your heart appreciates the break.
  • One to nine months after smoking, shortness of breath decreases…and those stairs are easier to climb.
  • One year after quitting tobacco, excess risk of heart disease is reduced by half… and doctor visits may come less often.
  • After five years, the risk of developing cancers of the mouth, throat and esophagus decrease significantly…and your favorite foods taste even better.
  • Within 10 years of quitting tobacco, a former smoker's risk of developing lung cancer is 30-50 percent below that of a person that continues to smoke… and you spend more time with loved ones.
