Not Ready to Quit?
Even if you're not quite ready to quit, you can try to cut back.
Use some of these techniques to help reduce the amount you smoke each day.
- Hold your cigarette with the opposite hand
- Carry carrot sticks around with you instead of cigarettes
- Switch to a different brand…one that you don't like
- Try to go longer between smokes
- Limit smoking to certain times and places
- Reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke each day and keep lowering the number
- Only smoke half of a cigarette at a time
- Buy cigarettes by the pack instead of the carton
