Emory, Ga. Tech diabetes researchers get grant

The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $6.1 million grant for diabetes research to a team that includes scientists from Emory University and Georgia Tech. The researchers are working to reprogram cells taken from the bone marrow or peripheral blood of patients to treat neurovascular complications which can lead to amputations in advanced cases. Lead researchers are Emory scientists Young-Sup Yoon and Xiaodong Cheng.
