Challenge of Obesity: Confronting Georgia's Epidemic
Brenda
Fitzgerald, M.D., commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Health,
joined experts including William Dietz, M.D., Ph.D., director of the division of
nutrition, physical activity, and obesity for the CDC and Linda Matzigkeit, the
chief administrative officer for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to discuss the
challenge of obesity in the U.S. and Georgia and how government, academia and
industry are working to address the problem, particularly with respect to
childhood obesity. The event was hosted by Georgia Bio, a non-profit,
membership-based organization that promotes the interests and growth of the life
sciences industry.
