Rustin Earns Doctorate
Chris Rustin, deputy director of DPH's Environmental Health Section, will be awarded a Doctor of Public Health degree with a concentration in community health behavior and education from Georgia Southern University's Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health in May. Rustin defended and passed his dissertation, "Evaluating the Efficacy of a Childhood Lead Poisoning Risk Model as an Accurate Predictor of Lead Exposure," in April. Rustin is responsible for assisting with supervision and direction of environmental health programs including land use, food service, public pools, tourist accommodations, chemical hazards, tanning, and healthy homes and lead poisoning prevention programs. Rustin also oversees environmental health emergency preparedness and is the liaison for the 18 district environmental health directors. Rustin previously worked for the Evans, Effingham and Chatham County Health Departments.
